Early Childhood Development

Description: The Early Childhood Development program is a 6 to 9 month program run in parnership with East Los Angeles College (ELAC) and West Los Angeles College (WLAC). The program currently takes place on the ELAC campus or the the LACOE GAIN Downtown site.

Job Placement: Upon completion of the technical training, LACOe will provide job leads, coordinate recruitments or mini job fairs, and work with employers on behalf of participants.

Teaching Assistant

Description: Assists in the preschool with activities, recess, meal time, and cleanup. May also assist in the instruction of children under the supervision of the Associate Teacher or higher.
Requirements: 6 units of Early Childhood Development (ECE) or Child Development (CD)
Renewal: 105 hours of professional growth
Median Salary: $31,019 annually

LACOE Associate Teacher

Description: Provide instruction and supervise Assistants.
Requirements: 12 units of ECE/CD, including core courses
Internship: 50 days of a minimum of 3 hours per day completed within 2 years
Renewal: One renewal with 15 additional units completed. Must meet CD Teacher Permit requirements within 10 years.
Median Salary: $33,053 annually

Description: May provide instruction and supervise Associate Teachers and Assistants
Requirements: 24 units of ECE/CD, including core courses and 16 General Education units
Internship: 175 days of a minimum of 3 hours per day, completed within 4 years
Renewal: 105 hours of professional growth
Median Salary: $33,640 annually

Master Teacher

Description: May provide instruction and supervise Teachers, Associate Teachers, and Assistants. May also serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development.
Requirements: 24 units of ECE/CD, including core courses and 16 General Education units, 6 specialization units, 2 units in adult supervision
Internship: 350 days of a minimum of 3 hours per day, completed within 4 years
Renewal: 105 hours of professional growth
Median Salary: $46,007 annually

Site Supervisor

Description: May supervise single site program, provide instruction, and serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development.
Requirements: AA Degree (or 60 units) with 24 units in ECE/CD (including core courses), 6 units in administration, 2 units in adult supervision.
Internship: 350 days of a minimum of 3 hours per day, completed within 4 years, including at least 100 days of supervising adults.
Renewal: 105 hours of professional growth
Median Salary: $55,640 annually

Program Director

Description: May supervise multiple site programs, provide instruction, and server as coordinator of curriculum and staff development.
Requirements: BA Degree with 24 units in ECE/CD, including core courses, 6 units in administration, 2 units in adult supervision
Work Experience: Site supervisor status and one program year of site supervisor experience.
Renewal: 105 hours of professional growth
Median Salary: $50,180 annually
